Station 2: Vessel Health and Preservation Ultrasound
  • Identify vessels and vessel health using 6-point Rapid Central Vein Assessment (RACEVA) Protocol
  • Identify anatomical structures, sliding lung and sandy beach to rule out pneumothorax
  • Assess vessel caliber, depth, respiratory variation, compression by artery, proximity to pleura, exit site considerations
  • Determine different angles for needle insertion with and without needle guide
This course is designed for healthcare professionals and other personnel who need to know how to perform CPR and other basic cardiovascular life support skills in a wide variety of in-facility and prehospital settings

  • Proper hand hygiene
  • Closed gloving and proper donning of sterile attire
  • Maximal sterile barrier precautions
  • Securement/dressing of the catheter
One Lung Ventilation
$ 150 USD
Dec 12
This course offers essential practice with one lung ventilation (OLV) techniques needed for thoracic surgery. Participants gain hands-on experience in managing and troubleshooting OLV to ensure safe, effective patient care
Awake FOI

As a critical emergency airway skill, cricothyrotomy training equips participants to perform this last-resort procedure accurately under pressure, supporting life-saving capabilities in extreme cases.
Station 2: Vessel Health and Preservation Ultrasound
Describe ultrasound technology for proper vessel selection for central venous access. Use ultrasound to:
  • Identify vessels and vessel health using 6-point Rapid Central Vein Assessment (RACEVA) Protocol
  • Identify anatomical structures, sliding lung and sandy beach to rule out pneumothorax
  • Assess vessel caliber, depth, respiratory variation, compression by artery, proximity to pleura, exit site considerations
  • Determine different angles for needle insertion with and without needle guide
Station 3: UItrasound-guided Central Venous Access
Demonstrate hand-eye coordination for CVC insertion utilizing modified Seldinger insertion with and without needle guide
  • Identify vessels and vessel health using 6-point Rapid Central Vein Assessment (RACEVA) Protocol
  • Identify anatomical structures, sliding lung and sandy beach to r/o pneumothorax
  • Assess vessel caliber, depth, respiratory variation, compression by artery, proximity to pleura, exit site considerations
  • Determine different angles for needle insertion with and without needle guide
Station 4: Complication Recognition and Management
Describe two anatomic variance issues in the internal jugular vein location, demonstrate two techniques to determine whether a catheter is intravenous or intra-arterial, discuss what temporal dyspnea or shortness of breath may indicate, discuss the possible outcomes of arm pain or tingling and describe two potential contraindications
*Once the Pass-Off session has been completed, the course fee is non-refundable regardless of whether the participant passes or fails the session. Participants can attempt to pass off the course again for an additional $100 per attempt
Note: This course is NOT currently eligible for Continuing Education credits
*Duration estimate is for the simulation course only. The online portion is estimated to take an additional 4-5 hours
How It Works
Online Modules
Go to AHA HeartCode® ACLS to complete the online portion of the course. Schedule a skills pass-off with the Center for Patient Simulation
Skills Pass-Off
At the Center for Patient Simulation, participants will complete a series of ACLS scenarios on a high-fidelity patient simulator. Participants will pass of high-quality BLS, airway management and megacode management. If these skills are not complete according to the AHA standards, participants may have to reschedule and pay to come to another skills session
Certification of Completion
Once the online session is complete and all skills have been passed off, participants will receive an eCard from the AHA. Certification is good for 2 years from the time the card is submitted

How It Works
Online Modules
SSTmoderate is the online portion of the program. The course features 9 modules, each comprising 3 key learning areas: the Classroom (didactic lectures), the Simulation Center (knowledge application), and the Sedation Suite (knowledge assessment)
Certificate of Completion
Completing SSTmoderate online (www.safesedationtraining.com) provides participants with a certificate of completion valid 2-years from the date of completion. Participants must obtain their certificate prior to the in-person portion of the course
In-Person Simulations
Once the certificate of completion has been completed, participants will attend an in-person course. Proctored by a sedation expert, this portion of the course will test participants knowledge and skills through multiple simulated scenarios
